Taunton Deane's Recruitment and Selection Process:-
- All vacancies are advertised on our Taunton Deane Borough Council web site.
- Applicants can apply through telephone requesting an application form or submitting applications online.
- The closing date is normally 2 weeks.
- If you do not hear from us within 2 weeks after the closing date, you assume your application has been unsuccessful. Feedback is available from the line manager advertising the position.
- If you have been short-listed to attend an interview, you will receive a letter from the line manager informing you of the details.
- Travel expenses can be reclaimed in certain circumstances (details can be provided upon request).
- Interviews are usually held by the line manager and, if required, a representative from Personnel and/or a senior manager.
- In addition to the interview you may be asked to complete one or more of the following:-
- Ability test i.e. verbal reasoning
- Occupational Personality questionnaire
- Presentation
- Role play exercise
- In tray exercise
- If you are unsuccessful you will be informed by the line manager by letter or telephone. Feedback from the interview is available from the line manager.
- If you are successful, 'CONGRATULATIONS!' we look forward to working with you at Taunton Deane.
- All positions are subject to a six month probationary period, unless you have continuous service with another authority. We will ask you for two references, a completed medical questionnaire and a criminal records check if your position involves either working in the finance, housing benefits or fraud unit, if you are visiting people in their homes, or will be working with children, the elderly or vulnerable persons.
