The Council's Heritage and Landscape Team are responsible, with their partners, in helping to maintain the rich diversity of landscape, wildlife and the built environment throughout the Borough. They do this by
- providing specialist advice to the Development Control and Forward Planning teams;
- providing advice to the owners of the Borough's 2000+ Listed Buildings and 42 Conservation Areas:
- protection of the Borough's most important trees and hedgerows through the serving of Tree Preservation Orders and processsing of tree and hedgerow applications;
- managing 13 Local Nature Reserves and promoting wildlife protection;
- promoting access to the local countryside through circular walks and trails; and
- working closely with partners to protect and enhance the Borough's nationally important landscapes, wildlife and buildings.
