Surrender a premises licence

If you no longer wish to use a premises licence and be responsible for paying the annual fee you can surrender it.  A premises licence has no expiry date, unless it is issued for a limited time, for example for an event.

Only the premises licence holder can surrender the licence.

Please write to us saying that you want to surrender the licence and include the original premises licence with your letter.

Once your letter and original licence has been received by us, we will update our records.  This includes the Public Register. The licence will then no longer exist.

Laws and regulation

The Licensing Act 2003 enables premises licences to be surrendered.
