Grounds maintenance

Our team maintains over 125 hectares of public open space including five major Green Flag Award Parks and 92 play areas for Taunton Deane Borough Council. We also maintain over 34 hectares of highways verges for Somerset County Council.

We are well placed and well equipped to respond to practically any maintenance project. We are committed to providing a highly responsive service at all times for all our customers.

We employ full time uniformed staff, most of whom are trained to NVQ level 2. Operatives working on highways are trained in Chapter 8 Street Works.

We undertake contracts all year round for parish councils, housing associations, schools, sports clubs, housing developers, health authorities, individuals, various organisations and other clients. As well as this we maintain the parks, play areas and highway verges in Taunton Deane.

Our main services include:

Wellington and Taunton town centre are emptied on a daily basis, all the other town bins are emptied twice a week.

The Council sets itself high standards for grounds maintenance operations, however, if you have any suggestions of improvements or would like to report any problem regarding our grounds maintenance services, please contact Customer Services or Parks and Open Spaces Department.

Lost property on Council property

We ask that everyone is careful with all their possessions when they visit our parks and open spaces so things aren’t lost but understand that sometimes this is unavoidable. Should our grounds maintenance staff find any valuable property on council land (eg mobile phones), they will inform their manager and hand it in to the Police. If you have lost anything valuable on Council land, please contact the Avon and Somerset Police on 101 to enquire whether it was handed in.

If our team find an item of a lower value (eg items of clothing, toys, etc.), our staff will place it in an easy to spot place on the site (like a bench or picnic table), around the same area they found it.
