Dead animal in a public place

If you see a dead animal in a public place you can report it to us by filling out our online report a dead animal in a public place form or calling 01823 356356.

If the animal is on a road with a speed limit of over 40 miles/hour, please report it to Somerset County Council on 0300 123 2224.

Make sure you provide us with detailed location. If you do not know the address, please give us a clear description of nearest landmark. We aim to respond to your report within 48 hours.

Domestic pets are scanned for a micro-chip. If the animal is chipped we contact the owner, if it is not chipped we will dispose of the remains within 3 days.

We do not collect dead animals smaller than a cat.
