The Heart of Somerset

Welcome to the official Heart of Somerset Tourism web site.  Located centrally between the north and south coasts the area is home to The Blackdown, Brendon and Quantock Hills, Somerset Levels and Moors and the market towns of Taunton, Wellington and Wiveliscombe, the gateway to Exmoor National Park.

From museums to historic railways, castles, gardens, stately homes and archaeological sites, Somerset has it all. Our new 'tube-map' style guide tells you all you need to know at www.visitsomerset.co.uk/site/things-to-see-and-do/touring-map

Also launched for the summer season is our brand new Somerset Secrets Guide. Click on www.visitsomerset.co.uk/site/home/sharing-somersets-secrets to view the guide designed to help you discover the lesser known corners of the county. The guide is made up of tips from those who know Somerset the best – the local residents. It also contains suggested day and weekend itineraries that take in a number of the secrets.

Along with nearby Bristol, Dorset and Devon, Somerset is the 'Perfect Rural Retreat' for a day visit, short break or holiday.
