Accessibility Statement

Taunton Deane Borough Council is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability or technology and including those who have visual, hearing, motor and cognitive impairments. We are actively working towards compliance with level AA from the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). Whilst every effort is made to ensure the whole site conforms, this is an ongoing process.

If you do find any accessibility barriers that affect or prevent your use and enjoyment of the site, please let us know by contacting us at enquiries@tauntondeane.gov.uk.

Document Viewing Help

Most of the documents on the Taunton Deane Borough Council website are currently stored Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). To read these documents, you will need software called Acrobat Reader. This software is freely available, and you can download a copy from the Adobe Acrobat website (external link).

The current version of Adobe Acrobat has a number of accessibility features. If you have an older version, you can upgrade by downloading the new version from the Adobe Acrobat website (external link).

All links to downloadable documents on this website include the file size. This helps users to get an idea of how long it will take to download the document. Please note that links to PDFs hosted on the Taunton Deane website will open a new browser window.

If you experience problems downloading documents from our site, we can supply them in other formats, for example, hard copy or CD. Please contact us: email enquiries@tauntondeane.gov.uk or telephone 01823 356356

Speech-enabled browsing

We have enabled our site to be used with Texthelp Systems Browsealoud speech-enabled software. Browsealoud is a free tool that enables website content to be heard. Speech enabling our website provides an additional way of accessing content for people who find it difficult to read. This includes those with learning disabilities or dyslexia, those whom English is not their first language or anyone with visual impairment. For further help with the Browsealoud product take a look at the Browsealoud FAQs (external link) on their website.
