Welcome to the Heart of Somerset.
This beautiful area is home to two Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - The Blackdown Hills and Quantock Hills, the Somerset Levels and Moors, Brendon Hills and the market towns of Taunton and Wellington and the gateway to Exmoor: Wiveliscombe.

The Heart of Somerset has stunning countryside, tourist attractions, arts and crafts, events, local food and drink and quality assured accommodation.

The area truly is the 'Perfect Rural Retreat' and ideal destination for a day visit, short break or holiday.

Our Tourist Information Centre in Taunton provides information about Taunton Deane and Somerset. We can also provide this information online on the Visit Somerset website (external link), by email, over the phone or in person.

We work with visitors, local residents and tourism businesses.

Our Tourist Information, Ticket and Travel Centre (within Taunton Library) acts as the first point of contact for visitors to Taunton Deane either in advance or during their visit to the area. We provide help and support to ensure our visitors have the best day out, short break or holiday. 

The Somerset Tourism Partnership works with local tourism businesses to increase visitors and to help to increase Taunton Deane's tourism industry. Coordinated and managed by Somerset County Council the 'Somerset Tourism Partnership (STP)' works on behalf of all local authorities in Somerset and North Somerset.  The STP exists as a partnership between local authority tourism units and tourism businesses in Somerset to raise awareness nationwide of Somerset as a tourism destination.
