Job shortlisting

Shortlisting is carried out as soon as possible after the closing date. A minimum of two people will normally shortlist, one of whom will be the line manager. The criteria used for shortlisting is consistently applied to all candidates.

It is done by measuring the information supplied by the candidates or their nominated referees against the person specification. The application form is not used as a test for literacy, unless literacy is a genuine requirement of the job. There is no maximum or minimum number of candidates who will be shortlisted. The reasons for shortlisting and rejecting candidates will be recorded and kept for six months.

Unfortunately, due to the considerable number of enquiries for vacancies, we are unable to acknowledge receipt of written applications unless you specifically request this by enclosing a stamped addressed envelope.

If you have not heard from us within 3-4 weeks of the closing date you should assume that your application has been unsuccessful on this occasion.
