Commemorative items in parks

Donation of commemorative items to parks and open spaces is a special way to remember a loved one by giving something for everyone to enjoy.

The items you could donate include:

A traditional bench seat serves as an appealing way to commemorate a special event, such as a birthday, anniversary, graduation or retirement, as well as a lasting memorial to a loved one. We would agree a location with you and you can provide a plaque with wording of your choice that we can affix to the bench. The cost of the bench depends on the style chosen.

You may decide to donate a tree or specimen shrub as a living memorial to a loved one. We would be pleased to discuss with you the most suitable plant for your preferred location. The cost of the tree is dependent on the size and the species.

You may want to see daffodils, bluebells, crocuses or snowdrops that will provide a display at different times of the year. As bulbs must be left to die back naturally after flowering, this affects the grass cutting regime, so we would have to agree with you the most suitable site for them to be planted.

You may be able to provide a dedication plaque at additional cost for bench seats.

All memorial items once installed or planted remain the property of Taunton Deane Borough Council.

Please note that Taunton Deane Borough Council cannot take responsibility for malicious damage or theft of commemorative items.
