Catherine moved to Taunton in 1995 with her soon to be husband upon his posting to 40 Commando at Norton Manor. Catherine and Robin made their family home in Taunton and both of their children were born at Musgrove Park Hospital. Catherine wanted to make Taunton her long term home and being here a lot on her own set up a neighbourhood watch in her Close, basically to get to know everyone and this led onto a street party for the Queens Golden Jubilee.
Through the neighbourhood watch Catherine got involved with the local residents association and was secretary and then Chairman of the group.
Catherine was elected in 2007 and has been a committed Ward Councillor, supporting residents with planning issues, working with highways to address parking, improving the play facilities and being a strong voice for her area.
As portfolio holder for sport, parks and leisure Catherine has led the projects to refurbish Station Road Swimming Pool and built the Blackbrook Pool and Spa.
Catherine feels strongly about the parks and open spaces and our young people within the Borough and also feels that being seen 'doing' can be a very positive message and would like to encourage even more people to be involved however they can to keep our Borough a great place to live.
Catherine cares about where she lives and about a positive Taunton Deane.
The Mayor's Charities this year are St. Margaret's Hospice, SURE (Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment) and the Taunton Sea Cadets and Royal Marine Cadets.
