Monitoring is an important part of planning policy implementation. Without it, it would be impossible to establish whether the policies set out in Local Plans and other documents were having their intended effect. Most of the Council’s monitoring is undertaken on a yearly basis, this allows results to be compared year on year and for trends and issues to be identified.
Every year the Council draws together key monitoring information in its authority’s monitoring report. The Report is published every December and provides commentary on performance over the preceding monitoring year (which runs from the 1 April to 31 March).
Additionally more detailed monitoring is undertaken in respect of housing, employment and retail and leisure.
