More than 300 people visited Taunton Deane Borough Council’s Affordable Housing Open Day recently to learn more about what’s available in the area.
The event in the Long Room at Somerset County Cricket Ground provided a one stop shop where people could find out more about affordable housing options, low cost homes for sale and what’s on offer to rent.
Visitors could talk first hand to Housing Associations, The Home Buy Agency, developers, contractors, solicitors and Citizens Advice – in all around 20 exhibitors were on hand to help.
Representatives from the Homefinder Somerset team, and Housing and Council Tax Benefits teams also attended to give advice, while financial advisers were on hand to help people find out what they could afford.
Councillor Terry Beale, Executive Councillor for Housing Services, said: "The Council is committed to providing affordable homes across Taunton Deane and part of this service includes making sure that people are aware of what’s available and how they can apply."
"The Affordable Housing Open Day provided a perfect showcase for us and our support organisations. It has been growing in popularity every year with hundreds of visitors taking the opportunity to speak to service providers and professionals under one roof."
