The project was started in early 2018 and was initially focussed on women who attended a domestic abuse support group. The aspiration of the project was to build self-esteem, health and fitness, teamwork through a range of rugby based activities. Since its inception the group has attracted participants from outside of the support group from the local community.
The project initially benefitted from support from Somerset Activity & Sports Partnership and Rugby Football Union through funding and qualified coaching sessions for six weeks. Following this the sessions were continued by Alex Williams and Richard Shadrick from the local TDBC Housing/One Team.
The aspiration of the project is for it to continue and to increase attendees to between 12-15 regular participants. (Currently 6-10 regular attendees.) The feedback from members of the group is really positive, with participants stating they "enjoyed the fun physical team activities.”
