The Council’s Property Services team has exceeded the expected performance requirements in its first year as a member of the Considerate Constructors Scheme.
Taunton Deane Property Service outperformed the Scheme's Code of Considerate Practice by achieving a score of seven points or above in each of the five tested sections – appearance, community, environment, safety and workforce.
As a result, the Property Services team has received a certificate of Performance Beyond Compliance.
Rich Prewer, Property Services Manager, said: “This is a fantastic achievement in our first year as members of the organisation. The certificate recognises that our service is truly people oriented and is a great example of construction at its most considerate. The Scheme monitor was particularly impressed with the courtesy and respect shown to our residents, and praised the organisation for building close relationships with both its staff and customers alike. These professional relationships recognise that working in people’s homes needs a high degree of sensitivity and consideration.”
The Considerate Constructors Scheme is an independent organisation founded by the construction industry to improve its image. In order to establish compliance and recognise performance beyond compliance, Scheme monitors visit offices, depots and individual projects, to monitor that those registered with the Scheme care about their appearance, respect the community, protect the environment, secure everyone’s safety and value their workforce.
The accolade comes after Taunton Deane Borough Council won the Social Housing Compliance award from the Association of Gas Safety Managers’ at their annual national conference.
The council was one of the first in the country to install Gas Tag’s ground breaking technology in its 4,500 properties which helps to save lives by stopping rogue gas fitters from working on appliances in people’s homes.
Councillor Terry Beale, Executive Councillor for Housing Services, said: “The Certificate is yet another fantastic achievement for our Property Services team who are hard-working, respectful and professional. They deserve our sincere thanks and congratulations.”
