Clinical waste collections are available if you use medical equipment, such as syringes, or have infectious dressings that must be disposed of carefully. You can apply for a clinical waste collection online. This is generally not for sanitary waste, such as incontinence pads.
Sharps boxes are available for disposing of sharps; yellow sacks for non-sharp clinical waste.
On your first collection, we appreciate you may not have any yellow sacks. In this case, please leave out a black sack clearly marked 'clinical waste'. The collector will take this and leave a replacement yellow sack. Sacks must always be tied securely.
Never leave sharps in a bag. Ask your GP surgery or hospital to supply your first sharps box; we will replace this box with new box at each collection.
This service is only available for residents of domestic properties in Taunton Deane. We cannot collect from businesses. However the Somerset Waste Partnership website lists details of contractors who may be able to help businesses.
