Alterations to Planning website
In order to improve our service, Taunton Deane Borough Council is introducing a new software package to process Planning applications.
As of 1st October, the Planning application numbers have changed to a new format (eg 08/90/0008), and it will no longer be possible to search using the old style application numbers (eg 08/1990/008).
Further advice can be obtained by telephoning 01823 356356.

Development Management
Taunton Deane Borough Council has responsibility for controlling building development in its area. This is done to protect the environment for everyone, to co-ordinate the way the area develops, and to prevent inappropriate developments. The Council also investigates breaches of planning management.

Application validation checklist - local requirement
By introducing new, standard planning application forms, the Government hopes that it will provide a quicker, more predictable and efficient planning service.
The changes will cover forms submitted both in hard copy and electronic versions via the planning portal (external link) .
The new forms, known as 1APP, will be accompanied by new National Statutory Requirements that list the information necessary to submit valid planning applications.
Planning authorities are also being encouraged to introduce Local Requirements or 'local lists' of information required.
Taunton Deane Borough Council has prepared a 'local list' and applicants/agents will need to establish what information is required to be submitted with an application by reference to the Council's Local/Unitary Plan, Core Strategy and Generic Development Control Policies, planning constraints information, by a comprehensive site investigation, and by pre-application discussion with the local planning authority.
