How much Housing Benefit would I get if I moved into a privately rented property?
If you are looking to move into privately rented accommodation, you can apply for a 'Pre-tenancy determination' (1252 KB). By applying for a Pre-Tenancy Determination (known as a PTD), you can find out the maximum Housing Benefit you could get on a property. You can apply for a PTD on any number of properties you are thinking of moving to so you can make an informed choice in terms of affordability.
Once you complete the form, return it to us here at The Deane House and we will fax it off the Rent Service straight away.
The Rent Service will tell you the maximum Housing Benefit you could get within 7 days
If you are getting Income Support, income-based Jobseekers Allowance or Guarantee Credit, you will get the maximum Housing Benefit figure, less any deductions we have to take because you have non-dependants living with you. Otherwise, use the Online Benefits Calculator to find out how much you could get.
