Revenues Best Value Review

The services reviewed were Council Tax, Business Rates, Sundry Debtors, Housing and Council Tax Benefit and Fraud Investigation. The Review considered recommendations by the Audit Commission particularly in areas of improvement or sustained success and drew on findings of good practice identified in other Local Authorities.

In challenging the service, Councillors, employees, internal clients, customers and 'Critical Friends' gave their views.  We compared costs, processes and quality by comparing data and visiting other Councils. As a result we have drawn up a plan identifying 108 improvements. We have prioritised action to tackle those with major effects early on.  Both the Council's Corporate Management Team and Members will monitor our progress.
