There has been head nor tail of any development involving the skate park! me and my friends get kicked out, shouted and screamed at for skating where were not wanted. its unfair and annoying! It's time you got up and actually created somewhere for people to skate! no one wants to skate at hamilton because you'll get stabbed and there is no where else to go without at least a half hour train ride! even a bowl with a couple of ledges would benefit us as a comunity. Do SOMETHING ABOUT IT!
We are doing something about it.The Council is actively engaged with the Community Skatepark project group in applying for funds to build a concrete wheels park on the site of the existing Hamilton Gault Skatepark in Taunton. In the meantime, there are skate ramps on the park at Lyngford next to the Library and on the open space next to Staplegrove primary school.

Subject: Parking Issues
from Paul Wittle on 26/08/2008
Dear Taunton Deane,
Wrongful issue of parking tickets to residents is a waste of everyone's time.
Given that you have Ringo systems in place which don't require a ticket but instead simply ok a number plate, why not do this for residents vehicles? You have the number plates because you print them on the permits so it would be easy to put them onto the hand held devices the officers carry.
Best Regards.
Whilst I appreciate where you are coming from on this, it seems a very expensive exercise to address a relatively small issue.Given that a permit has been issued, all that needs to be done is to have it clearly displayed in the vehicle. If that is done, then a penalty will not be incurred. To introduce another electronic system would mean additional IT, new handheld units for the Officers to carry and other administrative processes and I cannot see that it would be justified. There is also the issue that there are an equal number of Visitors Permits in use and since these are not vehicle specific, could not be managed by such a system. regards Jon Pallett Parking Services Manager

Subject: Parking Issues
from M. Anderson on 15/08/2008
Just returned from a weeks family visit to Taunton & settling there April'09. We are astounded that we had to pay for parking absolutely everywhere. We shop at Morrisons in Devon & noticed "Pay & Display" at Morrisons in Taunton! That is Crazy! I have NEVER paid to park when I'v gone to any Supermarket. Has this "Pay & Display" been implemented by the Store or Borough Council? It's enough to put anyone off - it's crazy. Only FRRE parking - was our Hotel!! Otherwise Tauntons lovely!
The car park at Morrisons in Taunton is nothing to do with this Council. When they first opened the store there though, parking was free. However, they paid the penalty for the convenience of the location in that the car park was invariably full of cars who were parking for free and not going to the supermarket to the detriment of genuine customers who were finding it increasingly difficult to find a parking place. When faced therefore with the out of town competition from the other big names where parking is uncharged (it is never free), they had little option but to make a refundable charge to those who used the car park and shopped in their store. This situation is the same for in in-town supermarkets of Tesco, Sainsburys and Co-op in Taunton and Wellington.Regards Jon Pallett Parking Services Manager

Subject: Flood Issues
from Debra Kemp on 14/08/2008
Last night the torrential rain flooded our study, although there is a step up to the study from the outside, the torrential rain flooded the room and the carpet throughout was drenched. We recently moved into the property and did not realise the rain would do this; please may we purchase 6 sandbags from you? Please would you advise if you would deliver the sandbags and also the cost involved.
Normally TDBC will arrange the delivery of sandbags free of charge if the property is in danger of flooding, the exception to this is Sheds, garages, outbuildings and commercial premises. We do sell filled sandbags at Priory Depot and the usual charge is £1.40 incl. VAT, we will deliver but the cost greatly outweighs the cost of the bags on a small quantity and it is preferable if they could collect. We also sell empty ones the current price is 29p but this can vary depending on the current market price when we buy new stock.

Subject: Recycling/Waste
from . on 31/07/2008
I edit our parish magazine which covers Stawley, Ashbrittle, Greenham, Bathealton and Kittisford.
Is there a website address I can quote in the magazine which will allow people to check on their waste/recycling collection dates?
Thank you for your email. We have a property look-up on our website which gives details of waste and recycling collection dates as well as car parking zones, councillors for your ward and council tax bands.
