About Taunton Deane Borough Council
Taunton Deane is a mixed urban and rural district within Somerset, covering 178 square miles and serving a population of just over 100,000. There are approximately 45,000 dwellings and 4,000 businesses within the borough. The main administrative centre is based at the Deane House in Taunton.
We are responsible for housing, planning, economic development, environmental health, housing and council tax benefits, refuse collection, electoral registration, leisure services and parks, cemeteries and a crematorium as well as many statutory and discretionary services.
