Which Councillor Do I Contact?
Borough Council or County Council?
Your local councillors for Taunton Deane have responsibility for the every day things that affect you - food hygiene in your lunchtime sandwich shop, planning, housing and Benefits. The Taunton Deane Borough is divided up into a number of different areas which are called Wards. Each Councillor represents a particular Ward within the Borough.
The councillors are elected to represent you to Somerset County Council consider in general major services like Education, Highways, Social Services and the Fire Brigade. It can be more complicated than these simple examples but if you would like to know more contact enquiries@tauntondeane.gov.uk

Clerks to the Parish Council
Villages within the Borough, outside Taunton, also have Parish Councils made up of Councillors elected from within the Parish. These Parish Councils represent grass roots opinion and have many powers, including raising of funds through an annual precept. They are regularly consulted and relied upon by the Borough and County Councils to keep them informed of local opinion and views.
