Wellington Cemetery at Rockwell Green Overview and Scrutiny Board

At current rate of use, Wellington Cemetery at Rockwell Green will be full by 2016. This review was set up to find the most appropriate way of increasing the amount of burial space either at the cemetery, or elsewhere.

All recommendations were adopted by Taunton Deane Executive on 22nd August 2007. The Overview and Scrutiny Board will monitor implementation of the recommendations
 
Affordable Housing Overview and Scrutiny Board

There is an increasing gap between supply and demand of affordable housing in Taunton Deane. This review was set up to identify ways of increasing the supply of affordable housing in urban and rural areas.

Final report and recommendations were approved by the Overview and Scrutiny Board on 19th March 2008 and will be presented to the Taunton Deane Executive on 20th August 2008
 
Provision of Amenities for Young People Health and Leisure Review Panel

This review was set up to look at ways of improving the quality and quantity of facilites for young people in Taunton Deane, to tackle antisocial behaviour and crime by young people

Taunton Deane's Executive Committee have accepted the recommendations in principle, and the final report has been presented to the County Council Area Working Panel for Taunton Deane. All recommendations have been accepted and Budget has provisionally been made available to carry them out.
 
The "Taunton Unparished Area Special Precept" Overview and Scrutiny Board

The Unparished area precept was set up to fund projects in the Taunton unparished area. That fund had not been spent. This review was set up to look at how the balance could be distributed equitably across the Taunton Unparished Area.

The fund is now being distributed within the unparished area of Taunton, and regular "bids rounds" are taking place.

To recommend ways to deliver planning decisions more quickly and easily on major housing and affordable housing sites.
