Baby Memorials
Baby Memorial Garden
The Baby Memorial Garden nestles quietly in a small wooded glade in Taunton
Deane Cemetery. The garden is secluded and affords time for personal
contemplation. The focal point is a statue designed and crafted by Taunton
student Richard Pope which was commissioned and funded by Taunton and Somerset NHS Trust.
Musgrove Park Hospital arranges for interment of babies, lost through
miscarriage or at an early stage of pregnancy to take place in the garden.
During these interments a simple, non-denominational service is conducted
by one of the Hospital Chaplains.
The cremated remains of very young infants may also be loosely interred
or scattered in the garden.
For all interments which take place in the Baby Memorial Garden, the
area of garden only, and not exact location, is entered into our records.

The book of remembrance
The Book is situated in The Chapel of Remembrance. This stands apart
from the main building enabling visitors to view the Book every day of
the year including bank holidays and it provides an inexpensive yet
lasting form of memorial.
