Crematorium
The Taunton Deane Crematorium is ideally situated on the western side of the town easily accessible both by car and public transport.
It was opened in 1963, designed by a private architect and constructed by Unwins, a firm of local builders. Mr Donald Kenneth Grant, foreman was in charge of the project. Stone obtained from three quarries in the area was used. The Crematorium was presented with a Civic Award in 1965 and the buildings being of 'architectural interest' were 'listed' in 1998.
