Booking an appointment for a cremation or burial

The office is open Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm.

Appointments can be made either in person or by telephone 01823 284811

Services

Services in the Crematorium Chapel are normally arranged at half-hourly intervals, for example, 9.00, 9.30, 10.00, 10.30, 11.00, 11.30, 12 noon, 12.30, 1.00, 1.30, 2.00, 2.30, 3.00, 3.30, 4.00. However, we respectfully request that the Chapel is clear within 25 minutes in order that it be made ready in time for the following service. For large or extended funeral services extended chapel times are available.

It is also possible to book the Chapel for a burial service followed by interment in the cemetery or, alternatively, an appointment may be made for the interment alone.

Making arrangements

When making arrangements for a funeral sufficient time should be allowed to obtain the statutory forms required to enable a burial or cremation to take place - a period of three days is usually sufficient. If it is necessary for the death to be reported to the Coroner or occurs over a bank holiday then more time may be required.

The initial information we require is:

  1. Whether a cremation or burial is being arranged
  2. If a burial:
    Whether the chapel is required?
Whether the burial is to take place in a new or existing grave? ( If an existing grave certain grave details will be requested)
  3. Date
  4. Time
  5. Name of the Deceased
  6. Your name and telephone number

Subsequent details we shall require for a service to take place are:

  1. Type of chapel service required - burial service, full cremation service, committal service or no cremation service.
  2. The religious or secular denomination of the service.
  3. Hymns or special music required.
  4. The name of the person conducting the service.
  5. For cremation, the final placement of the cremated remains.
  6. For burial, the type of grave required.

Now that the provisional booking has been reserved, a series of arrangements must be made as soon as possible. These may look difficult but they soon fall into place as you progress. It is most important to ensure that the required forms are prepared. Some of these forms are available from the crematorium.
