Cremation Procedure

We operate the Crematorium in accordance with the Code of Cremation Practice issued by the Federation of British Cremation Authorities. A copy of this is available on request.

The cremation process, including the service time, takes about five hours. If the service is arranged early enough the cremated remains will be available the same day. There is a choice of containers in which the remains may be placed and these are available from the Crematorium office. If you intend them to be interred in a churchyard, cemetery or other crematorium, you will need a Certificate of Cremation which we issue free of charge. We can also despatch the cremated remains by secure delivery anywhere in the UK should you wish. There is a handling charge for this as well as a fee for a suitable container and postage of the remains.
