Armed Forces

The Defence Secretary, Des Browne announced on 25th September 2007, that Armed Forces personnel serving in Iraq and Afghanistan will get a council tax rebate. All troops who pay council tax for a property in the UK will receive a flat-rate payment over a six month tour. The new measures will be introduced from October and the first payment will be made from 1st April 2008. The rebate will be paid directly to the Armed Forces personnel.
