Taunton Deane's economic vitality is supported by its educational establishments, which have created a well trained and adaptable workforce enhancing the attractiveness of Taunton Deane for incoming businesses.

There is a first class choice of both state and private education at primary and secondary levels. There are some 47 junior and infant schools, 7 secondary schools and 5 independent schools all with a junior section.

Further and higher education is also well catered for, with a number of degree courses offered at Somerset College of Art and Technology which is an affiliate of Plymouth University. Richard Huish College is also based in Taunton.
