The rural team leads the support for rural initiatives that develop, diversify and strengthen the local economy working with businesses and community groups alike. The team is also responsible for the delivery of support and advice to rural communities, voluntary groups and businesses, together with the local delivery of the parish planning process. Key duties include: funding advice, advice on project development, and support for the delivery of Parish Plans.
The team also has an agricultural focus; it aims to help local farmers to tackle the problems and difficulties they are experiencing at the moment. This includes help with new business ideas and business development, offering training courses to equip farmers with new business skills, advising with planning and development issues, identifying sources of suitable grant funding, linking farms to share ideas and expertise, and identifying new initiatives, to help the farms remain viable.
