Gambling Act 2005
From 2007 the Gambling Act gives Licensing Authorities a number of regulatory functions in relation to gambling. Their main functions are to:
- license premises for gambling activities;
- consider notices given for temporary use of premises for gambling;
- grant permits for gaming and gaming machines in clubs;
- regulate gaming and gaming machines in alcohol licensed premises;
- grant permits to family entertainment centres for the use of lower stake gaming machines;
- grant permits for prize gaming;
- consider occasional use notices for betting at tracks; and register small societies' lotteries.
Statement of Principles
Licensing Authorities are required to prepare a Statement of Principles in relation their functions. This Statement of Principles has completed its consultation period and has now been published and is available to download.
