What is Biodiversity?
Biodiversity is the variety of life on earth, and includes all species of plants and animals and the natural systems that support them.
Local government has a key role to play in conserving biodiversity. This can be achieved: by developing and implementing external and internal policies and strategies; in administering the planning system; in managing land and buildings; in developing infrastructure; in engaging with the public, and by implementing economic, environmental and social programmes.
