Choice Based Lettings
Taunton Deane Borough Council is changing the way it allocates housing. From December 2008, we will be part of a scheme called Homefinder Somerset.
Other partners are:
- Sedgemoor District Council
- West Somerset District Council
- South Somerset District Council
- Mendip District Council
- Housing Associations in the Homefinder Somerset area
How will Homefinder Somerset affect you?
Once you apply, you will be assessed by a member of Housing options Team and then placed into one of four bands.
- Gold
- Silver
- Bronze
- Emergency - in a very few cases
What do I need to do now?
If you are already on the housing register, you will be sent a letter in August 2008 inviting you to re-register online at the Homefinder Somerset website (external link).
Existing applicants will need to re-register
If you don't you won't be able to bid for a new home.
New applicants ned to register
If you don't you won't be able to bid for a new home.
How to apply
- Online, by registering with Homefinder Somerset (external link) OR
- completing an application form available form the Housing Options Team Tel: 01823 356581
It's quicker and easier to complete the application form online. It's crucial that if you are already registered on Taunton Deane's existing housing waiting list you re-register within 6 weeks from 4th August 2008 - if you don't re-register within this period you will lose your original date of application.
Your application date is important, as time on the register will give priority along with the band you are placed in. If you do not register on Homefinder Somerset you will not be able to bid for a property advertised.
