Private Sector Renewal Strategy
2005/2006 Executive Summary
The Council is committed
to improving and adapting the privately owned homes of our residents because
this tenure contains the oldest properties with many of the greatest
problems.
Officers have produced a Private Sector Renewal Strategy document entitled "New Solutions
for old Problems " in response to the new Regulatory Reform (Housing Assistance)
Order 2002 and the accompanying Guidance.
This Executive Summary outlines the main revisions to this strategy in response to the Wessex Reinvestment Trust low cost loans scheme and the new Home Aid Partnership initiative.

Grants
Renovation Grants
These are no longer available (Grants stopped November 2005)
Home Maintenance/HMO/Over the Shops Grants
Unfortunately due to the large demand for these grants and the limited Government funding it has been necessary for Taunton Deane Borough Council to take the decision to stop these grants from September 2006. These grants will therefore no longer be available for any new enquiries.
It will not be possible to keep a waiting list for new enquiries regarding these grants, as Taunton Deane are not in the position to know whether the grants would be available in the future.
Handyman Scheme
Please be aware that due to a high demand for this service and financial restrictions that jobs may have to be prioritised and delays could occur in processing requests.
