Enforcement

The Council employs two full time Enforcement Officers, working within the Development Control Section. Their main role is to investigate complaints about breaches of planning control and secure compliance with conditions of planning approvals.

The Authority will always try and resolve problems without having to resort to punitive action. However, when this proves difficult, evidence will be gathered to support the Council's case in pursuing any subsequent actions.

Any concerns you may have relating to unauthorised development or activities would be dealt with in the strictest confidence by our Enforcement Officers who would be pleased to discuss the matter with you. This could relate to building works, advertisements, fly posting, works to a listed building and development within a conservation area.
