About the Community Safety Team
We work with other Council service units, partner organisations, community groups and local people in promoting a reduction in crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour. We support, conceive and implement new initiatives aimed at reducing crime and disorder in Taunton Deane.
In addition to Council targets and priorities we also have a responsibility to act on directives issued by the Home Office. This involves working with partners to bring together an annual strategic assessment of crime and disorder in the area and across the County. This combines emerging priorities and concerns identified by partners and with those raised by the community.
We represent Taunton Deane Borough Council at appropriate meetings and on other bodies dealing with local community safety issues. We have daily contact with County and District Councillors and Council Officers at Unit Manager and Senior level in order to exchange information and advice appertaining to the Crime and Disorder Strategy and the Crime and Disorder Act.
Our aims
As well as continually promoting Community Safety, we give talks and presentations both within the Authority and in the wider community in order to secure widespread involvement in community safety initiatives.
- Our aim will always be to improve the quality of life of the people of Taunton Deane through a partnership approach to the reduction of both the fear and the reality of crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour.
