Key stages

The key stages in the production of the adopted Taunton Deane Local Plan (2004) were as follows:

  • February 1995: Issues and Options Report
  • April 1998: Deposit Draft
  • November 2000: Revised Deposit Draft
  • September 2001: Commencement of Local Plan Inquiry
  • March 2003: Closure of Local Plan Inquiry
  • September 2003: Receipt of Inspector's Report - available on the publications list
  • December 2003: Receipt of "clarifications" to the Inspector's Report - available on the publications list
  • May 2004: Proposed Modifications
  • November 2004: Adoption

The adopted Taunton Deane Local Plan

The adopted Taunton Deane Local Plan includes both the text and the Proposals Maps. (For those accustomed to working with the policy numbering in the Revised Deposit there is a list available on downloadable documents to show any new policy numbering in the Adopted Plan). The Environmental Appraisal of the Adopted Plan is also available.

Supplementary Planning Guidance for key sites

Proposals within Taunton town centre should be viewed within the context of the Urban Design Framework and the Taunton Town Centre Area Action Plan.

Saved Local Plan Policies

The Government Office for the South West (GOSW) have issued a direction enabling Local Authorities to 'save' Local Plan policies beyond 19 November 2007.  Those policies that are not saved will no longer be relevant for determining planning applications after this date. The list of agreed saved policies and those not saved can be viewed.
