Talking Tomorrow's Taunton Deane (Context)
Talking Tomorrow's Taunton Deane is a project that seeks to develop a joint approach to preparing the Community Strategy and the Local Development Framework (LDF).
During March to June 2006, the community took part in an extensive consultation programme to seek early input to the development of the following:
- Community Strategy Review;
- Area based plans for North Taunton and Taunton East;
- Core Strategy (LDF); and
- Taunton Town Centre Area Action Plan (LDF)
Many consultation methods were used, including workshops, street theatre, exhibitions, drop-in sessions and presentations (among others). The consultation engaged a wide audience including disability groups, youth, communities in North Taunton and Taunton East, development industry, professional stakeholders and the public.
The summary of the consultation response is now available to view. The summary contains valuable feedback that has been grouped according to various general topics (for example Economy, Transport, Crime etc) and site-specific themes (North Taunton, Taunton East and Taunton Town Centre). The summary makes no attempt to comment on the feedback.
From this response, we have prepared a "Spatial Report" that identifies all the spatial issues that were raised within the consultation. The Spatial Report provides a short response to each issue, and identifies the LDF document within which that issue will be given further consideration.
Talking Tomorrow's Taunton Deane Spatial Report
Early consideration of relevant themes and spatial issues has informed the production of the draft Taunton Town Centre Area Action Plan. Meanwhile, the Taunton Deane Local Strategic Partnership is preparing the content of the Sustainable Community Strategy. Project Taunton is also concerned with the regeneration of Taunton Town Centre. Project Taunton (external link) has further information.
Talking Tomorrow's Taunton Deane is a continuing theme. We shall continue to join the Sustainable Community Strategy with the LDF, and provide more opportunities for the community to have their say on important strategies and plans.
The information available is mainly archive material from the consultations that occurred during Spring 2006. This will be updated in due course. However, of interest will be the section entitled "Getting Involved and Making Your Comments". This details the response from particular consultation events (March to June 2006), including workshop sessions.
