Car park regulations

  1. Charging hours

    The charging period is between 8am and 6pm Monday to Saturday inclusive.

  2. Bank/Public holidays

    There is no exemption from payment on Bank/ Public Holidays.

  3. Display of tickets

    (Pay and Display tickets are not transferable except by holders of orange/blue disabled persons badge - see 5.)

    A valid Pay and Display ticket. Season Ticket or other official pass issued by the Council must be displayed in the front windscreen of the vehicle, as soon as the vehicle is parked, where the relative detail may be easily read from outside.

  4. Eligible vehicles

    Only vehicles under 30cwt unladen weight may park except:

    1. Heavy goods vehicles caravans & trailers which must park only in Priory Bridge Road car park.
    2. Coaches which must park only in Castle Street Coach Park.
  5. Free parking for the disabled in Taunton Deane pay and display car parks

    Vehicles displaying a current Blue Badge may park without charge in any marked bay in the car park, whether designated a disabled persons bay or not.

  6. Penalty Charge Notices

    Penalty Charge Notices will be issued for:

    1. Failing to display a valid ticket.
    2. Unauthorised parking in a disabled person's bay.
    3. Parking otherwise than in a marked bay.
    4. Parking in an area designated for coaches.
  7. Appeals

    Appeals against the issue of a notice may be made in writing to the Parking Services Manager at the address shown on the Penalty Charge Notice.

  8. Removal of vehicles

    Vehicles which are apparently abandoned, or which offend against Car Park Regulations, and remain unlawfully parked for a period in excess of seven days, may be removed. Removal, daily storage and disposal fees will be charged.

  9. Other offences

    It is also an offence for which a summons may be issued to:

    1. Leave an unlicensed or uninsured vehicle.
    2. Use a vehicle for the purpose of selling articles or a service.
    3. Service a vehicle, camp or cook.
    4. Disturb the peace.
    5. Use the vehicles horn unnecessarily.
    6. ail to conform to markings or signs.
