Parking Meters in Taunton Town Centre
There are parking meters in limited waiting areas in the Town Centre.
How To Pay
1. Note the bay number you have parked in. (A black and white number on
the kerb or road)
2. Go to the meter. (The arrow next to the bay number points the way)
3. At the meter, select the bay number.
4. Pay for 30 minutes.
No ticket is issued so there is no need to walk back to the car to place
a ticket on the windscreen - the parking meter keeps a record of the bays
which have been paid for.
Charges
The charge is for 30 minutes parking. No change is given and the maximum
period of stay is 30 minutes. A bay vacated early can be used free
for the remaining time. But a fresh payment will immediately reset the
clock so only the standard 30 minutes will be available, not the unexpired
time plus 30 minutes. Charging applies from 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday
(with short exempt periods at The Mount).
Penalties
Enforcement is by Taunton Deane Borough Council's Parking Attendants.
You will be notified that you have incurred a penalty by a ticket, usually fixed to your windscreen. The penalty charge for non-payment or for
overstaying is £50, reduced to £25 if payment is made within
14 days. The cost will be greater if we have to pursue the debt through
the courts.
