Shopmobility

Shopmobility in Taunton

What is Shopmobility?

Shopmobility is for people who have either permanent or temporary limited mobility. It allows them greater independence to move around the towns shop area by providing powered and unpowered wheelchairs and scooters.

Where is Shopmobility?

Shopmobility is based on the first floor of Paul Street Multi-Storey Car Park. It is open from 9.15am to 4.30pm Monday to Saturday.

How much will Shopmobility cost me?

The service is free but any donations will be gratefully received.

How does Shopmobility work?

Shopmobility is a sort of club. Anyone wanting to use the service should join by printing out and filling in the form. Bring this together with some form of identification (a driving licence or library card will do) to the office. You can do this the first time you want to use any vehicle - but it would be a good idea to book first to make sure what you want is available.

You can book chairs and scooters in advance by calling at the office or by telephone 01823 327900.

You are recommended to give at least one day's notice as all vehicles may already be committed if you arrive without booking.

You, or your companion, will be able to use specially reserved car parking spaces next to the office.

You can have a demonstration of the powered chair or scoota by a member of staff. There is an area in which you can practice - then it's off to the shops.
