Planning committee

The Planning Committee usually meets every three weeks to discuss planning applications that are unusually large or controversial. If you have commented on an application and it is to be considered by the committee, you will be invited to attend and speak at the meeting if you wish. If you wish to speak, you must register with the Democratic Services Officer by telephoning 01823 356573 or by emailing democraticservices@tauntondeane.gov.uk by 5.00pm the day before the meeting.

What is covered?

After formal business (declarations of interest, signing of minutes, public question time and urgent business) the meeting moves on to discuss planning applications. They are dealt with as follows:

How long does it take?

Meetings normally last for up to four hours. If all items on the agenda have not been covered during this time, the meeting will continue on another date.

Where is it?

Planning Committee meetings are held at The Deane House, Taunton. The meeting rooms have wheelchair access and we have staff available for sign language.
